EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured therapy approach intended to help people process distressing experiences and reduce the intensity associated with traumatic memories.
EMDR may be considered for trauma, PTSD symptoms, anxiety, or phobias depending on individual needs. It does not erase memories, and it is not automatically the right approach for everyone.
Preparation comes before processing
We first consider safety, stability, coping resources, and your readiness for the work. Suitability is assessed collaboratively, and you remain informed and involved throughout the process.
What a session may involve
When appropriate, EMDR uses a structured sequence that may include bilateral stimulation while attending to parts of a distressing experience. The pace and focus are adjusted to your responses rather than forced toward a predetermined outcome.
